Barbados Football Association President Randolph Harris was officially voted in as boss of the Caribbean Football Union having briefly acted as head of the regional football union since the suspension of Antiguan Gordon Derrick from FIFA last year.
It was a landslide 27-3 victory yesterday for Harris, the distinguished Barbadian administrator who will occupy the top post of CFU president for the next four years after defeating Hillaren Frederick of the United States Virgin Islands when elections were held yesterday in Moscow, Russia.

That achievement came three hours after Harris who has been involved in football since 1970 was elected by acclamation, vice-president of the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football [CONCACAF] for the next two years after elections were held in the room where the CONCACAF 33rd Ordinary Congress was held.
The vacant post of board member went to Dominican Glen Etienne, who comfortably defeated Fabrice Baly of French Saint Martin 21-7.
Tasked with the responsibility of looking after the region's affairs in football, Harris in an interview with Barbados TODAY thanked those who supported him and said the CFU had a strategic plan that would see the game being developed at all levels in the Caribbean.
“I have the responsibility of looking after the region and I have good support from the executive council and members of the CFU and hopefully I could give them the kind of service that they expect from me,” Harris said.
Assuring that the CFU was in good financial standing, Harris also said: “CFU has a strategic plan that was done collectively by the board and with some help from CONCACAF. We will be keeping to that strategic plan, trying to develop proper governance and integrity for the organization. We are looking to assist our member associations with development in all areas including finance, general administration and of course the game.”
After being elected, Harris asked his members to pay a moment's silence in memory of former CONCACAF vice-president and president of Jamaica Football Federation, Captain Horace Burrell who passed away a year ago.
Aside from the CFU board members, BFA vice-president Captain Al Walcott and general secretary Edwyn Wood are in Moscow supporting Harris.
