St Michael North-West kicked off the National Sports Council/Youth Development Programme Under-17 tournament in winning fashion, compliments the golden boots of striker Kavian Inniss, who scored a hat-trick.
This afternoon at Passage Road Ground, St Michael North West defeated St Michael North in convincing fashion 4-0, when the hour long contest ended.
Inniss showed his worth from early in the 18th minute with a powerful left-footed shot from the top of the box into the right bottom corner of the net.
The boys from North West doubled their lead in the 35th minute, courtesy of a penalty kick taken by Inniss.
Six minutes later the boys who hail from Minister of Finance Christopher Sinckler’s constituency, were awarded another penalty.
Once again Inniss stepped up the spot and converted.
St Michael North striker Shane Beckles tried his best to pull one back after finding an opening in his opponent’s defense, but his attempt inside the 18-yard box ricocheted off the uprights.
The icing on the cake for St Michael North West came when Shacolby Corbin scored in the 51st minute off a brilliant corner delivery. A student of St Leonard Boys, Corbin’s strike curled pass the opposition’s defense, beating their goalkeeper in the process to shake the nets.
In the other game, St Michael West Central came up with a 2-0 victory against St Michael Central. Joshia Hinds got on the sheet first when he did well to break away from a strong St Michael Central defense in the 51st minute.

The striker was at it again with a clean cross from down the left flank connecting with Akeem Welch who finished the job six minutes later.
