Weymouth Wales trounced Solaris Pinelands 4-0 when the Digicel-sponsored Barbados Football Association’s Premier League continued last night at the Wildey, St. Michael Astro Turf.
Mackeson Brittons Hill were also victorious with a hard-fought 2-1win over Klaytons Kola Tonic Notre Dame in the first encounter of the evening.

In the featured game Wales’ strikers finally got down to business late in the first-half when in the 41st minute the ball was squared by Hadan Holligan to Kemar Headley who deftly placed it into the back of the nets for the opening goal.

Before the end of the half the provider would turn scorer when Holligan netted in extra-time of the period. That goal knocked the wind out of Pinelands at a time when they were regrouping and trying to make it to the break with conceding another goal.
Wales’ momentum in the second half continued from where they left off in the first and once more they controlled the early exchanges, dominating ball possession to a percentage of about 75. Jadai Clarke then got among the scorers when he outpaced the Pinelands’ pair of Chad Griffith and Jerome Lynch and took shot at goal from inside the 18-yard box. However, Pinelands’ goalkeeper Michael Spooner got some part of his gloves to the ball but was unable to make a clean save and Clarke followed up nicely and scored.
Spooner had just cause to remonstrate with his defenders as from Clarke’s early foray into the area, up to scoring off the rebound, his support seemed to have taken an early evening nap. Dangerman Holligan who tormented Pinelands’ defence throughout the game, then returned and buried another strike in the 92nd minute when he was basically given free passage to the goal bars and scored past Spooner who by this stage was far from amused.
In the other game Dwayne Stanford scored two penalties in the 21st and 86th minutes respectively for Brittons Hill. Ronaldo Seale managed to put the Dames on the scoresheet in the 86th minute when he ran the ball down the left flank, dribbled between two of Brittons Hill’s defenders, took strike at goal and beat goalkeeper Orlando Carew.
That game, however, did not end without a few fireworks which earned Zico Edmee his second red card of the league season as well as Rohan Hall of Brittons Hill who was also sent off in the 90th minute of play.
By the end of last night’s action Rendezvous’ family unit of Myron and Shandel Samuel were the league’s leading scorers with ten and eight goals respectively. Weymouth Wales’ Kemar Headley has also scored eight goals. Arantees Lawrence, who was not a factor last night against Weymouth Wales, and UWI Blackbirds’ Mario Harte both have six goals, while Brittons Hill’s Dwayne Stanford sits on five. Dario Wilson (Pinelands), Jomo Harewood and Holligan (Wales), Jabarry Chandler (Paradise) and Kyle Gibson (BDFSP) have each scored four goals.
Chandler, Holligan, Harte, Harewood, Headley, Gibson and Lawrence are all expected to feature when Barbados take on St. Kitts on Sunday at an international friendly at the Usain Bolt Sports Complex.
