Defending champions Weymouth Wales and University of the West Indies Blackbirds are into the quarterfinal round of the 2015 Banks Beer Cup after they both registered wins last night at the Wildey, St Michael Astro Turf.
Wales clinched a 1-0 victory over Bagatelle while the UWI defeated Sunrise 6-3 in the other game.
In the featured game of the night there were quite a number of chances that went abegging but Wales managed to put the ball into the back of the nets when Jason King placed a lovely through-ball to Jadai Clarke who finished well in the 79th minute by beating Bagatelle goalkeeper Mario Albert. The custodian played well all night but on this one occasion left his line and was beaten by the ball.

Shomari Stevenson (left) of Bagatelle tried to control the ball while toppling over as Dwayne Peters of Wales put pressure on him.
In the first game played UWI wasted no time putting an early goal into the back of the nets in the 13th minute when the ball was played up the left flank by striker Mario Harte who crossed it over to fellow striker Trey Hart at the top right-hand corner of the 18-yard box and booted the ball into the back of the nets.
Six minutes later in the 19th minute Sunrise’s response was simply delightful when from inside the area Gregory Yearwood sent a thunderous shot past UWI’s goalkeeper Keon Harding. One minute before half-time Jamar Watson gave Sunrise the lead with another superb goal which he volleyed into the back of the nets.
UWI needed to level the score and who better to do so than Harte in the 62nd minute when he outpaced Sunrise’s defence and scored.
Dario Harewood gave UWI the lead in the 71st minute and two minutes later Shamari Mark out-foxed Sunrise’s last defender, as well as goalkeeper Gregory Harding whom he dribbled past to place the ball into the back of the nets.

UWI striker Dario Harewood (left) scored two goals for his team against Sunrise.
Harewood found his second goal of the evening in the 74th minute thanks to the efforts of Harte who ran down the ball and crossed from the right flank over to Harewood who made no mistake in finding his target.
Sunrise managed to squeeze in another goal in the 77th minute when Harding spilled the ball in the area and Damain Edwards capitalized on the error to give his team their third goal.
Mark produced his second goal of the night when Sunrise’s goalkeeper Harding left his line again and allowed the opponents their sixth goal of the game.
The winner between Silver Sands and Barbados Defence Force will face Wales in the quarterfinal while the winner of the encounter between Central League Spartan and Porey Spring will play UWI.
